Two days, participants from 21 nations, countless conversations – and an event format deliberately designed to be more than a traditional user meeting. The BKP Relining Days on January 15 and 16 brought us together with our customers – installers and decision-makers alike. In addition to a diverse lecture program, intensive technical exchange, and hands-on demonstrations, the supporting program also played a central role and will remain memorable for many participants.
New Developments and Answers to Key Questions
The BKP Relining Days were opened by CEO Thomas Christiansen together with Sales Director and moderator Martin Lutze, setting the tone for two intensive and dynamic days. A central focus was on new developments at BKP, most notably our new liner generation, presented by CTO Daniel Will.
Export Manager Börje Persson highlighted the importance of training within our industry and introduced initiatives under the umbrella of “Trenchless Training.” He also presented the International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT), on whose Board of Directors he serves, providing insights into its mission and objectives.
Insights into the Heart of BKP
A particular highlight – especially for first-time visitors – was the behind-the-scenes look at our operations. During the factory tour, guests gained detailed insights into the production of Berolina-Liners, UV curing technology, as well as quality assurance and logistics. The direct exchange on site made processes tangible and opened the door to further in-depth discussions.
Live Demo Installation, Temperature Monitoring and Plenty of Light
Marc Thiele introduced IBG HydroTech’s product portfolio and presented for the first time the UV curing system specifically developed for BKP Berolina liners. A live demonstration followed, during which a Berolina-Liner was cured.
During the curing process, the VeriCure system by Vortex Europe was used to precisely monitor temperature development. The measurements were conducted by Christian Durst, who also explained the system’s functionality and benefits in a dedicated presentation.
In another lecture, Prof. Dr. Jörg Sebastian explored the principles of polymerization and liner curing. Special emphasis was placed on lamp technology and the UV spectrum. With the striking statement, “Light is not just light,” he demonstrated how crucial the correct UV light source is for curing performance and liner quality.
Experience from International Projects
The growing importance of trenchless rehabilitation in the district heating sector was highlighted by Andreas Martsman, who shared insights from approximately 50 CarboSeal installations across ten countries.
This segment was complemented by Glen White from our Australian customer Downer Pipetech, who presented his installation experience with our liner systems in sewer rehabilitation projects in Australia.
A Supporting Program That Sets Standards
One of the key advantages of our supporting program? Our immediate proximity to Berlin. Beyond the technical content, it is particularly important to us to introduce our guests to our home region and allow them to experience the attractions, history, dynamism, and unique character of the German capital.
The evening program was truly spectacular: an exclusive dinner at the new “Sphere Tim Raue” restaurant in the Berlin TV Tower. At a height of 207 meters, with a 360° panoramic view over the city, modern interpretations of Berlin cuisine met the signature style of two-star chef Tim Raue. It was an evening that deepened conversations, opened new perspectives, and created lasting memories.
Discovering Berlin Together
The second day continued with a focus on the capital. During an extensive city tour, participants visited Berlin’s most iconic landmarks, including the Brandenburg Gate and preserved sections of the original Berlin Wall. History, present-day impressions, and personal experiences merged into an unforgettable highlight for many attendees.
A particularly impressive moment was the visit to the Reichstag dome at the German Bundestag, where history and modern democracy became tangible in a unique way.
Intensive Insights, Lasting Connections
Once again, the BKP Relining Days demonstrated the value of open exchange between manufacturer, installers, decision-makers, and industry experts – and how technical depth gains even greater impact when embedded in a distinctive setting.
The combination of technical expertise, hands-on insights, and an exceptional atmosphere made the event an intensive and lasting experience.
Our sincere thanks go to all guests, speakers, and contributors who made this event unforgettable through their engagement, expertise, and enthusiasm.
